Lifting devices:
energy and layer first
Even for the same sagging, a device takes on a different character depending on which energy it sends to which layer. Before comparing device names, we check what bothers you first.
Book a consultationLifting care is the area where, when the facial line looks like it has come down or the skin looks loose, you sort out whether sagging, firmness or fat shows first, and choose the device that fits. The devices at STON Myeongdong are grouped by the kind of energy they use. Sofwave, Shurink Universe and Ultherapy PRIME run on ultrasound; Thermage FLX, Oligio X and InMode FX/FORMA on radiofrequency; ONDA on microwaves; Titanium lifting on lasers. The doctor decides at your visit which device goes over which area.
The type of energy splits first
Ultherapy PRIME carries ultrasound imaging and ultrasound treatment in one unit, while Shurink Universe concentrates ultrasound at a chosen depth so that small points of thermal coagulation form. Sofwave runs on ultrasound too. On the radiofrequency side there is Thermage FLX, Oligio X with its monopolar delivery from one electrode, and InMode, a platform whose handpieces swap on a single body. ONDA works at 2.45GHz in the microwave range, and Titanium lifting uses lasers of more than one wavelength.
Even within one family they differ
Among ultrasound devices, and among radiofrequency devices, the way the energy is delivered, the depth it aims at and what can be checked during treatment all differ. That is why it is hard to compare by device name, or by how widely known a device is. The device and how far it is applied are decided during the exam, after looking together at skin thickness, where the sagging sits and how much fat plays a part.

The layer comes before the device
The face has layers of different character stacked on each other: skin and dermis, subcutaneous fat, fascia, muscle and salivary gland, bone. Which layer the change shows in first changes which energy and which depth are worth considering. Your own skin thickness and the state of the layers are checked by the medical team during your exam.

- 2Ask about your thickness
- 3Discuss the area

Prepare your questions
It is fine if you arrive with a device already in mind. We start by looking together at how your face looks now.
The change that bothers you first
Which one catches your eye first: sagging, firmness and fine lines, or fat under the chin.
The area you notice most
Where you want to start: around the eyes, the cheeks and jawline, or under the chin and the neck.
Lifting you have had before
The device names, when you had them and which areas, as best you recall.
Anything placed in your face
Tell us where and when you had filler, threads or fat grafting.
Pain and recovery
How much anaesthesia or pain worries you, and how much swelling or bruising you can take.
Your schedule
Tell us about dates when swelling would be a problem, such as a shoot or an event, and any flight home.
Before your consultation
How are lifting devices divided?
By the energy they use and the layer they aim at. Ultrasound, radiofrequency, microwaves and lasers each send energy into the skin in a different way. Even within one family the way of delivering it and the depth differ, so it is hard to compare by device name alone.
How long does the treatment take and how long does it last?
It differs with the device, the area and how far it is applied, and it differs from person to person. We explain this during your exam.
Does it hurt?
Heat and stinging register differently from one device, one area and one person to the next. Bring up anything that concerns you when we talk first, and the doctor will go over anesthesia at your visit.
Is there anything to tell us before the consultation?
Tell us in advance about the devices and timing of any lifting you have had, where and when you had filler, threads or fat grafting, medications and supplements you take, skin inflammation or immune-related conditions, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Whether any of it applies is checked by the medical team during your exam.
