Blurred contours?
CaHA volume injection

With Radiesse, the change on the day it goes in and the collagen response that comes later are read separately. So we start by settling which phase to judge by.

Book a consultation

Radiesse is an injectable product in which CaHA (calcium hydroxylapatite) microspheres sit dispersed through a gel. It carries two properties at once: filling on the day it goes in, and a collagen response afterwards. The filling and the collagen side do not arrive together; they come one after the other. Where it goes and how far it spreads is the doctor's call at your visit.

Radiesse product
  • Made of CaHA microspheres and a gel

It is described as the gel filling the spot right after placement, with the microspheres prompting collagen production afterwards.

  • It is not hyaluronic acid

Its main ingredient is not in the hyaluronic acid family, so the injection used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler does not work on it the same way. That is why the checks before anything goes in take longer.

Prepare your questions

There is no need to settle on a product first. Write the points below down in order and bring them.

  1. The area that bothers you most

Write down which you notice first among the jawline, cheeks and temples.

  2. Your experience with filler

If you have had it before, tell us what fell short.

  3. The kind of change you want

Visible on the day, coming over time, or both.

  4. Dates coming up

Recovery responses can linger, so if you have an important date we count back from it.

  5. Medications and allergies

Note the names of your medicines and your allergy history.

  6. Where previous injectables sit

If something was placed in the same spot, tell us as much as you recall.

Before your consultation

Is Radiesse about filling, or about collagen?

It does not sit cleanly on either side. It is an injectable product with CaHA in microsphere form floating in a gel, described as filling on the day it goes in and prompting collagen to form afterwards.

Does the shape seen right afterwards hold?

We do not treat the immediate shape as the one that stays. The moment after placement, the stretch while swelling is up, and the change after that are read as three separate phases. How long it holds depends on the area and your own condition, which the doctor goes over at your visit.

Does the treatment hurt?

What people feel can differ from person to person. If pain worries you, say so in the consultation.

Is there anything to be careful about before treatment?

Please tell us in advance about injectables placed before, medications you take, your allergy history, and dates coming up. Whether these apply is checked by the medical team during your exam.
