STON Myeongdong · Question

Juvéderm or
Juvelook Volume?

The two differ in ingredient and in how they work. Juvéderm is a filler where the hyaluronic acid placed makes volume in that amount, while Juvelook Volume puts PDLLA in to lead collagen to form inside the skin. Before choosing, sort out which area looks hollow, which moment you will judge the shape by, and whether anything was injected in the same spot before.

First, the principles differ

Juvederm Voluma box on a terrazzo stand

Juvéderm

Hyaluronic acid

Being a hyaluronic acid filler, the amount placed shows up as volume at that spot. Swelling overlaps it on the day, though, so the reading comes a few days later.

Juvelook Volume

PDLLA

PDLLA is placed so that the skin is led to produce collagen on its own. Unlike a hyaluronic acid filler used on the same area, what goes in does not turn into volume straight away.

Compare on the same terms

Where it looks hollow
Point out where you look hollow. Tell us as well the angle that bothers you in the mirror.
Which point in time
With Juvéderm, swelling joins the shape on the day, so the reading point sits a few days later. Juvelook Volume is not finished on the day you receive it either. Which moment to judge by is sorted out together when we talk.
What was placed before
Tell us whether anything has been placed in the same spot, whether filler has been dissolved, and about any volume treatments you had in the past.
Medicines and schedule
Tell us in advance about medicines and supplements you take, allergies and underlying conditions, and any dates coming up.

This comparison alone does not decide a treatment

This comparison only sets out how the two treatments differ in character. Which layer and area anything is placed in, and which treatment is chosen, is decided with the medical team at the clinic after your face and skin have been checked.

Three things to note before your consultation

  1. 1Where you look hollow and the angle that bothers you
  2. 2Treatments placed in the same spot before, and whether filler was dissolved
  3. 3Medicines and supplements you take, allergies and underlying conditions, dates coming up

Before your consultation

How do the two treatments differ?

Juvéderm is an injectable filler whose main ingredient is hyaluronic acid, and the amount placed shows as volume at that spot. The PDLLA in Juvelook Volume is described as leading collagen to form inside the skin.

When should I judge the result?

With Juvéderm, swelling sits on top right after treatment, so the face you see once it has gone is the accurate one. Juvelook Volume waits on a collagen response, which means the day of treatment is not the result. When the change surfaces and how long it holds differs by person, and the doctor goes over it at your visit.

If the result disappoints, is there a way to undo it?

For Juvéderm, a hyaluronic acid filler, there is the option of dissolving it with a hyaluronidase injection. That injection is a treatment in itself with its own guidance, and whether and when it applies is decided by the medical team at the clinic. Juvelook Volume has a different ingredient and different guidance, so please check at the clinic.

Can I have both in the same spot?

Which treatment goes in which spot and which layer, and how the timing is set, is discussed at your visit, after your facial contours and skin have been looked at. If anything was injected before, mention it when we talk.
