STON Myeongdong · Question

Thermage FLX or
Oligio X?

Both devices use radiofrequency energy. Thermage FLX is presented as a medical device that uses radiofrequency on the eye area and facial wrinkles, while Oligio X delivers 6.78MHz radiofrequency from a single electrode and cools the skin surface with gas. Before choosing, note the area that bothers you, whether you have any implanted electronic device, and any recent treatments.

This comparison alone does not decide a treatment

This comparison only sets out how the two devices differ in the way energy is delivered. Which device and mode are used, and over what area, is decided with the medical team at the clinic after your skin has been checked.

Three things to note before your consultation

  1. 1The spot in the mirror that bothers you most, and whether the eye area is included
  2. 2Implanted electronic devices, metal implants, medicines you take
  3. 3Recent fillers or radiofrequency treatments and when you had them

Before your consultation

How do the two devices differ?

Both use radiofrequency. Thermage FLX is presented as a general electrosurgical device that uses radiofrequency on the eye area and facial wrinkles to coagulate tissue. Oligio X is monopolar, delivering 6.78MHz radiofrequency from a single electrode, with gas cooling and two delivery modes.

Which one lasts longer?

How long it lasts depends on the area and range and on how your skin responds. It varies from person to person, so the two cannot be compared side by side. Tell us at the consultation what change you hope for and any important dates.

I am worried about the heat. What can be done?

Heat is felt with either device, and the difference shows up by person and by area. Ways to bring the pain down are worked out together when we talk.

Is there anything I must mention beforehand?

An implanted electronic device such as a pacemaker or implantable defibrillator is listed as a contraindication. Please also tell us in advance about metal implants, recent fillers or radiofrequency treatments, skin inflammation, medicines you take, and pregnancy or breastfeeding. Side effects such as redness, swelling and burns can occur after treatment, and whether anything applies to you is confirmed by the medical team at the clinic.
