Hair and tattoos:
how removal differs
Both use a laser, but they aim at different targets. We check the area, the color and your past records first.
Book a consultationHair and tattoo removal covers what stays in the skin, hair and tattoo pigment, treated with a laser. Skin thickness and hair thickness differ from area to area, and tattoos differ again in color and depth. At STON Myeongdong this splits into beard hair removal, Men's Brazilian hair removal, Women's Brazilian hair removal and Men's underarm hair removal with GentleMax Pro Plus, and Tattoo removal with PicoWay. Which area to work on, and with what settings, is decided in consultation by the medical staff.

The same laser, a different target
Hair removal aims at the pigment in the hair, and tattoo removal aims at the ink that has gone into the skin. GentleMax Pro Plus is used for hair removal and PicoWay for tattoo removal. The devices differ because the targets differ.
The area changes the conditions
Beard hair is thick, and the skin in the Brazilian area is thin. The underarm is a spot with frequent friction where the skin folds. Even within hair removal, the extent and the settings are set separately for each area.
Tattoos start with telling them apart
How it is approached changes with the color, the depth and any removal you have had before. Checking what kind of tattoo it is comes first.
Records come before session counts
Hair removal is care that runs over several visits. Before counting numbers, we check how your skin responded last time.

Before your consultation
Why are hair removal and tattoo removal in the same menu?
Because both are done with a laser. Hair removal aims at the pigment in the hair, while tattoo removal aims at the ink that has gone into the skin. That is why the devices differ.
How long does it take, and how far apart are the sessions?
It depends on the area, the extent and the state of the tattoo, and it differs from person to person. We go over it in consultation.
Does it hurt?
How strongly it registers changes by area and by person. It helps to point out where your skin is thin beforehand. How cooling or anesthesia will be used is covered at your visit.
Is there anything to be careful about before treatment?
Let us know in advance about recent sun exposure and waxing, any hair or tattoo removal you have had before, medicines and supplements you take, allergy history, skin inflammation or immune related conditions, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Whether these apply is checked in consultation by the medical staff.
